Principal's Welcome
Welcome to Enable Ireland Sandymount School.
We are very proud of the learning that takes place here every day. Our pupils are at the heart of our school, and we are committed to providing a rich and engaging education that recognises their individual abilities, interests and potential.
Our approach to teaching and learning is centred on each pupil as an individual. We want every child to be challenged, supported and encouraged to achieve, while developing their communication, confidence, independence and skills. We recognise that every pupil's journey is different, and we celebrate the progress and achievements that each child makes along the way.
School is also about friendships, experiences, curiosity and having fun. We want our pupils to feel a real sense of belonging and to have opportunities to discover their interests, try new things and be active members of our school community.
It is a privilege to be part of a school where our pupils, families and staff work together to make every day a positive and rewarding experience.
I hope you enjoy getting to know more about Enable Ireland Sandymount School.

About our school
Enable Ireland Sandymount School provides primary and second-level education for children and young people with physical or complex needs.
Our school brings education, care and specialist support together, creating an environment where pupils can learn, develop and take part in school life with the support they need.
We work closely with pupils and their families to understand their individual needs and to support their progress throughout their time at school.
-
Our vision and mission reflect the characteristic spirit of Sandymount School: “Excellence in Education.” Our pupils are at the centre of the educational process, and we aim to support each pupil to:
participate in a full life according to their ability
develop as a whole person
prepare for continuing and lifelong learning
realise their potential as an independent and socially engaged person
develop towards a fulfilling and self-directed adult life
Pupil learning needs are at the centre of our planning, and teaching and learning are at the heart of our school plan.
We recognise that learning extends beyond the school day. Sandymount School promotes a 24-hour curriculum, recognising that our time in school is just one part of what pupils learn and experience throughout their lives.
We work in partnership with parents to support a quality education for every pupil. We also recognise the important contribution of the therapeutic disciplines provided by our patron body, Enable Ireland, in supporting our pupils to access and participate in education.
-
Our school community includes pupils, families, teachers, special needs assistants, therapists, nurses and other staff who work together to support learning and participation.
Working as a team means that different skills and expertise can come together around each pupil. Families are an important part of this partnership, and communication between home and school is central to supporting each child's education.
