Clinical & Other Supports

Sandymount School is co-located with Enable Ireland clinical services, allowing education and clinical staff to work closely together as part of the school day.

Clinical staff support pupils throughout the Individual Education Planning process and work alongside teachers and SNAs, providing therapy, advice and support where appropriate. This allows therapeutic support to be incorporated into pupils’ everyday learning and activities.

  • Joint teacher and therapist home visits

  • Postural management, including positioning in sitting, standing and lying

Nursing

Nursing staff help support and facilitate children attending Enable Ireland Sandymount School. They also provide advice to parents on areas such as health promotion and prevention of illness.

Nursing staff provide an important link between parents and the child’s educational setting.

Assistive Technology

The school takes a collaborative approach to Assistive Technology, with parents, teachers, SNAs and therapists working together to support pupils at school and at home.

Assistive Technology can help pupils communicate, access their education and participate in school life. The equipment and technology used will depend on each pupil’s individual needs.
